This cozy park is located between Kattevennen and the center of Genk. You can stroll along the ponds, hayfields and small farm animals. The bee hall, the Kempense baking oven and the ecological gardens (maintained by volunteers) are also worth a visit. The playground is completely dedicated to adventurous play and nature experience.

Years ago, the landscape around Heempark took on its current form. People farmed and cultivated the landscape. Sheep grazed on the heath, hay meadows were mown to feed the cattle in winter, and the heather was plowed. People lived in balance with a fragile ecosystem.
When the municipal council purchased 5 hectares of the Dorpsbeek stream valley to expand the Molenvijverpark (1971), the idea of establishing the area as a botanical park grew. A botanical park is a small-scale model of the former agricultural landscape.
