An interesting treatise on how this lock complex (constructed at the intersection of Leidsche Rijn and Merwede Canal in 1885) was the driving force behind all kinds of industrial activity in this area: Not coincidentally, the Munt, but also Hamburger (Now part of DE), Stichtsche Olie- and Lijnkoekenfabriek, later Cereol (now a library and catering industry), the associated service and lockkeepers' houses are also worth a visit and monuments.
