Zwartgragtlos Hiking Trail

Yes, of course. This connection will be called "Zwartgragtlos". It was created on the basis of the Scheldt-Leie development project of the VLM, and was taken over two years ago by VMM in the name of bank management works on the Zwalm. It has a long lasting legal history, there is a piece missing that is still being regularized.
Please give the newly constructed grass strip between Schoolstraat and Zwalmoever a chance to grow for the time being.
VMM only gave a right of passage for walkers, hence the bicycle locks. We plan to build a bicycle lane next to it.

Is this the new hiking trail under construction ?!

The missing piece has now been regularized, you can walk through it freely.
We call the area from Schoolstraat to the mouth of the Zwalm 'Wispinkel', which is the old name of this piece of agricultural area that lies in the westernmost corner of Zwalm; hence 'western shop', corrupted into 'Wispinkel'.
We called the 1400m long footpath from Schoolstraat: Zwartgragtlos, Beverpad (now open), Schuisplankweg, Wispinkellos and Zwalmmonde.
This path was selected for the anniversary of 20 years of Trage Wegen in Flanders. The more votes we collect for this path, the greater the chance that we can win a 'trim' of the path. This would allow us to build a semi-paved bicycle bed, in order to avoid the busy Schoolstraat with a traffic-calmed connection between the village of Nederzwalm and the Scheldejaagpad. So vote for this path in Nederzwalm at dagvandetrageweg.be/stem-mee (the penultimate in the list).
