Such boundary stones are very common in this area. Around 1700 Thuringia was split up into around 28 small states. These contemporary witnesses or relics were partly richly decorated, which is no longer properly recognizable today. They stood along the paths or in the hallway and marked the boundaries of the princes and duchies.
