The Bosbouwschool was founded in 1887 thanks to a gift from Major van Swieten. This in memory of his son Gerard Adriaan who passed away at the age of 21. With the establishment, extra interpretation was given to training, one of the pillars of the ideas of General Johannes van den Bosch. The school was closed in 1902 due to a lack of government funding.
