The historic watermill on the Else River (Südlenger Str., Bünde, Südlengern district), first mentioned in 1333, is one of the oldest and most important mill sites in the Herford district. Today it is used as a private residence. The undershot waterwheel was replaced by a Francis turbine in 1925/30, as the water power was no longer sufficient after the Else River was regulated in 1927. The current building was reconstructed in 1979, identical in size and appearance to the mill that burned down in 1970. The crossing over the old weir on the Else is closed to the public by a gate.
