"The Doberg in Bünde is not only a specialty for the Herford district, but also of worldwide scientific importance because of its complete sequence of Oligocene layers (Upper, Middle and Lower Oligocene). These now solid sand, limestone and claystones were in almost horizontal layers in the sea or deposited on the mainland. By systematically recording and determining the fossils embedded in the layers, the history of the once living world can be read. " Doberg is phenomenal in all seasons!
