Numerous works by Wieland Förster can be found today in Dresden's public area. Förster (a German sculptor, draftsman, painter and writer) was born in 1930 in Dresden. His created bronze sculpture "The Elbe" on the Laubegaster shore reminds of the life of the inhabitants of the LAubegaster from and with the river. The figure was originally created in 2002 for Hamburg, where there is another casting. The project was financed by Laubegaster residents and the artist himself, who renounced much of his fee.
The artwork represents a female figure hovering on a wave, which straightens slightly and thus symbolizes the thoughtful streaming as well as the rearing up against the natural force of the water.
