Heiligenthal watermill

The Heiligenthaler Mühle rises like a castle at the entrance to Heiligenthal.

The mill actually stands on historical ground, even if the current mill building was not built until 1950: Premonstratensian monks had built a mill here on the Hasenburger Bach after they had built a monastery at this location in 1315. After the Reformation it came into the possession of the Heiligenthal estate in 1562, to which it belonged until 1865.

In contrast to many mills, the mill seems to have experienced an economic boom after the Second World War. The impressive new construction of the mill, built in the so-called "Heimatstil", already indicates this.

But since 1973 the Mühlenhof has gradually been converted into a restaurant. In 1981 the grinding operation finally stopped, and in addition to the restaurant at the mill pond there was now a large ballroom and a number of hotel rooms in the mill building.

However, since 1998 the turbine has been turning again and generating electricity.
