Lively, interactive, colorful! Experience the whole world of tea - because tea is much more than just a drink!

The East Frisian Tea Museum is a unique special museum on the topic of tea and at the same time a magnet for visitors in Norden-Norddeich. The cultivation, harvest and processing of the tea are just as vividly illustrated as its social significance is shown on over 1000 square meters of exhibition space. Different rituals related to tea have developed in different countries. With its tea culture, East Friesland is of particular importance.

A journey begins in the historic old town hall of the city of Norden, on which you will learn everything about tea: Based on the East Frisian tea culture, the museum offers fascinating insights into the cultivation areas, the processing and production of the famous East Frisian mixture to the decors of the East Frisian tea sets. From the historical long-distance trade through the Asian steppes and the oceans past the Cape of Good Hope to today's tea customs all over the world. With its tea culture, East Friesland is of particular importance - a cup of tea at any time.

In the city history section, the East Frisian Tea Museum invites you to take a 5000-year-old walk through the history of the North, from the first evidence of human life in the North to the North Sea tourism these days. In the Rummel (ballroom) of the old town hall, upscale living culture from the 17th to 19th centuries and historical northern silver are presented. The workshops of a tin caster, a goldsmith and silversmith, a teapot maker and a porcelain painter show traditional handicrafts related to tea.

There are a few topics that you should inform yourself about when you are traveling in East Friesland, as it helps immensely to understand the East Frisian way of life and culture. Tea/tea drinking culture and bogs/peat extraction are part of it. And these two are connected, as you will learn here. If you're already here, you should take it with you, especially in bad weather.
