It has been standing there since EUROGAplus in 2002 near the Stone Age workshop on a nettle meadow and is enclosed by a dense hedge of thorns.
In contrast to other installations from the time, this probably protected it from vandalism.

"... In a nettle clearing behind the Stone Age workshop, the work by Magdalena Abakanowicz stands on a wooden box: The sculpture of a four-legged friend. The work is titled MUTANT. It depicts neither this nor that animal, it has neither eyes nor face still character.
The artist has created the metaphor for a being that human beings could produce biologically from sheet steel for a crucial place in human history and cultural history. Inevitably, this picture becomes a memorial picture. Human intervention in evolution is possible and lies ahead of us. ... "
