The "red wall" - a fitting name for this former clay marl pit. The cut allows an insight into the geological layer. The red marls removed here were used in agriculture to improve the soil until the middle of the 19th century.
The marl cave has now been designated as a ground monument and has become a valuable habitat for endangered animal species such as sand lizards and midwife toads.
