The Romanesque hall church was built in the first half of the 13th century. The aisle on the south side, the Floriani Chapel, dates from the middle of the 15th century. It was badly damaged during the Turkish invasions of 1529 and 1683. Towards the end of the 17th century, the parish church was rebuilt.

The present-day parish church of St. Petronilla was begun in the Romanesque style. In the 15th century, a Gothic side aisle, the so-called St. Florian Chapel, was added.
