When the Weser Bridge was blown up in 1945, Bombeck's fishing boat was for a time the connecting link between parts of the bridge lying in the water. In 1982, the tip of the land on the Weser Bridge at the Old Harbor became "Bombeck's Corner" when the Beautification Association set up a seating group with a table in cooperation with the city.
