Starting from February 1550, Ercole II d'Este had the Rossettiano Torrione di Francolino transformed into a real residential structure, called Rotonda, exalted in verse precisely in that year by the poet Vincenzo Brusantino.
The Rotonda factory was completely landed in 1616, causing a great architectural, as well as aesthetic-landscape and historical-artistic scarring that remained etched in the memory of eyewitnesses.
Of the ancient complex, only the entrance to the "Ghiacciaia" (set in a small relief of earth) and the curtailed mound remain. virgins since the years of the Herculean Addition of 1492.
