The beautiful rest area with a view of Veldenz Castle is named after the wife of Count Georg Johannes, Princess Anna Maria Wasa, a daughter of King Gustav I of Sweden. In 1562 she married Count Georg Johannes. She brought a dowry of 300,000 guilders into the marriage, making her husband one of the richest counts palatine of his time. She died in 1610 at the age of 65 and was buried in the Remigius Church on the mountain of the same name in the district of Kusel. Source: text information board
