The parish church of St. Jakobus, planned in 1728–1729 and completed in 1729–1732, is the main work of the baroque master builder Jakob Oeckhl. He built and financed the construction after the death of his second wife on the basis of a vow to give birth to his son.

A chapel was first mentioned in 1624. The church was built from 1729 to 1732 with the architect Jakob Öckl on the site of an older chapel on a plateau above the baroque fountain house. In 1783 the church was raised to the status of a parish church.
