The western border of the Maurer Forest is formed by the Gütenbach, on the other side of which are the Dorotheerwald and the Eichwiese. Lower Austria begins about 1 km to the west with the municipality of Breitenfurt and the Kaufbergen.

The Eichwiese is a beautiful and quiet meadow in the Vienna Woods, which belongs to the Kalksburg district in the 23rd district of Liesing in Vienna. It lies between the Dorotheerwald and the Maurer Wald, on the border with Lower Austria. From the Eichwiese you have a great view of the Wilder Berg, the highest mountain in Mauer. The Eichwiese is a popular place for walkers, hikers and those seeking relaxation who want to enjoy nature. It is also part of the city hiking trail 6, which leads from Rodaun over the Zugberg and the Maurer Forest. There is also a refuge on the Eichwiese, which is run by the Kalksburg local group of Nature Friends.
