The herb bowl is a doline, of which there are several in the Bietigheimer forest. Another special feature is that straight paths lead away from the herb bowl. It is a horticultural element like in a palace complex. In connection with the construction of the Ludwigsburg Palace, the system of paths on the Krauttopf was also created. The network of avenues emanating from Ludwigsburg (created in the 18th century) also leads into the forest, so that the Württemberg Duke Carl Eugen was able to quickly reach his "hunting grounds".
