    The wayside shrine of “Saint Franz Xavier”, popularly known as “IXEFERI”, is located in Baiken, at the upper end of the Baikenhöhle (Plästergässchen).
    This is a powerful statue of St. Francis Xavier, who was born in Navarre in 1506 and worked as a missionary for the Society of Jesus in India, Japan and the South Seas. He died there on an island in 1552 and was buried by Pope Gregory XV in 1622. canonized. Especially in the 17th and 18th centuries, he was revered as the patron saint of sailors and protector from storms and storms. That's why in earlier times people prayed for blessings on the weather during processions by the community at his statue.
    The wayside shrine was built in 1773. The initials J.W. in the inscription fits many Rauenthal families, but is not documented.
    The Latin inscription translates as:
