The Lasker Auenwald represents the last natural section of the Klosterwasseraue. While its forests were generally cleared in the course of the Middle Ages and the floodplain is mostly used for agriculture today, this part was the only one spared from reclamation. The original oak-hornbeam floodplain forest can still be found here today, with numerous streams running through it. Parts of the forest are under water almost all year round.
