Cycling

The baroque castle was built around 1750. The castle chapel was added to the castle in the neo-Romanesque style from 1883 to 1885. A hospital was later housed here, in which the GDR's second ultrasound device was stationed after Dresden.

Hiking

Räckelwitz was first mentioned in 1280 as Rokolewicz. Since 1304 there was a manor here. In 1719/20 Jacob Eckart von Wobeser auf Räckelwitz was appointed governor of Upper Lusatia.[4] His daughter Eleonore Charlotte (1737-1772) married Friedrich Albrecht von Götz (1728-1780). Her son Ludwig Eckard von Götz (1765–1815)[5] sold the "Erb-, Kunkel- und Spillehngut" (an estate that could be inherited by women) Räckelwitz to Philippina Countess von Bolza, the daughter of Privy Councilor Joseph von Bolza , who married Count Stolberg.[6]
