The first evidence of this place of worship dates back to 1224. In fact, there is news of an oratory dedicated to San Colombano and dating back to the thirteenth century. It was named after the Madonna della Salute in 1630, following a terrible wave of plague. The current Sanctuary was built in 1829, in just 7 months, mostly using sandstone from the nearby Caglieron Caves. In 1950 the caretaker's house was built, leaning against the north wall of the church.
