Hiking

Very nice area for walking around the lakes (and possibly afterwards through the woods)! The first part of the route runs along the lake. De Kuilen were created in recent decades by sand extraction. Now you can enjoy the beautiful nature and in warm weather you can take a refreshing dip from the recreational beach. There is a nice walk of 6.6 kilometers on the Natuurmonumenten site.

The pits were created by the activities of a brick factory. These ponds form the nature and recreation area 'De Kuilen'.
There is a beach pavilion where you can eat something.
Along the pits, 30 coastal works have been placed, made by 30 different amateur artists.
An easily accessible walking path has been created around the pits
