This charming hill sits in central Snowdonia along with its neighbour, Rhobell Fawr. Rocky moorland covers much of Dduallt and its eastern flank is delightfully craggy. The hill rises to 2,172 feet (662 m) and is part of the Arenigs range, albeit an outlier. Blissfully quiet and part of gorgeous countryside, this is a great hill for a little adventure.
You can begin your ascent from plenty of directions, although the most straightforward are likely to be from the south along the A494. You’ll likely encounter several boggy sections, including the summit, so wear waterproof boots to avoid soggy socks. When you reach the top, you’ll find views of Lake Tegid, the Arenigs to the north and the distant bulk of Cadair Idris to the south west.
You can ascend Dduallt throughout the year but take great care in winter conditions and only attempt it in snow with the right equipment. The terrain is rough, so walking poles might come in handy.
Dduallt is a mountain in central Snowdonia, north Wales. It is the sister peak of Rhobell Fawr. It lies north of the A494 between Dolgellau and Llanuwchllyn. Its eastern slopes are the source of the Afon Dyfrdwy. It has a rocky summit marked by a small pile of stones and is a UK listed Nuttall.
