    Hiking

Bucklers Hard is a tiny hamlet on the edge of the Beaulieu River famed for its shipbuilding history. From the early 18th century, a variety of impressive ships were built here, including HMS Surprise and HMS Agamemnon, Napoleon's supposed favourite ship.

During the Second World War, torpedo boats were built here and in non-military history, it was the start and end point for Sir Francis Chichesters solo round-the-world voyage with Gypsy Moth IV.

Today, there's a maritime museum here with fascinating stories and artefacts.

    Running

Buckler's Hard is a little hamlet situated on the edge of the Beaulieu River, in the southern part of the New Forest National Park.

Buckler's Hard was once a thriving shipbuilding village, the old Georgian cottages that the workers once live in run in a line down to the river, creating a lovely scene.
