The traffic light used to regulate the traffic, today it is a work of art and at the same time an apartment for songbirds. What the Düsseldorf artist Till Hausmann placed as a traffic light box on a concrete pillar is a so-called ready-made.
A ready-made is an object found in everyday life that becomes an object of art through a new interpretation or type of use. At Till Hausmann, the former traffic light was gutted, the openings for the red, yellow and green signal lights were made smaller and the housing was painted red: the traffic light box is ready.
