The Schwarzenberg Watercourse was built between 1810 and 1815 and connected the Tränkegraben (Watering Ditch) with the Hutthaler Graben (Hutthal Ditch). Water from the Dammgraben (Dam Ditch), raised by the Polsterberg pumping mechanism, flowed through it, over the Hutthaler Widerwaage (Hutthal Weighbridge), and into the Hirschler Teich (Hirschler Pond).

For much of its length, the 730-meter-long Schwarzenberg Watercourse was supported by wooden beams. These have now largely rotted away, causing the ceiling of the underground watercourse to collapse in many places. The remaining sections now provide a protected habitat for amphibians and bats.
