Construction of the Karlshamn - Vislanda - Bolmens Railway began in 1872. The first section was opened by King Oscar II as early as 1874. The railway was built with a gauge of 1067 mm. In 1943 the railway was nationalized. In 1958 the steam operation ended. From this point on, goods traffic on the 78km long route was carried out exclusively on small two-axle diesel locomotives with trolleys. Diesel multiple units were available for passenger transport. In 1970 passenger traffic was discontinued. The last freight train ran in 1979. In 1982 the line was dismantled.
On the embankment, which incidentally follows the course of Mörrumsån (one of Sweden's best salmon rivers) for long stretches, a cycle path was created.
In 1994 an association was founded that collects various relics of the former narrow-gauge railway at the former Hovmansbygd station.

Railway carriages along the railway embankment (from Halmstad to Karlshamn) at Ebbamåla. Take a detour to Ebbamåla mill on the other side of Mörrumsån. Well worth a visit.
