      Naturns is characterized by a mild, alpine-Mediterranean climate, green valleys and steep mountains. With 315 days of sunshine a year, the landscape of Naturns is one of the rainiest in the entire Alpine region.

      Naturns and the surrounding area extends from the picturesque village of Plaus to the districts of Tabland, Tschirland and Staben on the border with Vinschgau. With 5,500 inhabitants, Naturns is one of the largest communities in the valley and is located around 13 kilometers west of the spa town of Meran at 554 meters.

      The hiking area of Naturns unfolds on both sides of the valley. In the north stretches the Sonnenberg, whose south-facing partial flank with its barren dry grassland landscape is unique in the entire Alpine region. Traditional mountain farms characterize the landscape, as do the wide orchards and the view of the almost 3,000 meter high snow-covered peaks.

              There are several options for shopping in Naturns. There are some nice little shops.

              Despite the tunnel with the bypass, the main street is sometimes quite busy.
              Nevertheless, it is worth visiting the Prokulus Chapel (at the roundabout towards the mountain) and of course the Unterstell cable car. There are many hiking opportunities from the mountain station. The views from up there into the Vinschgau or towards Meran are simply beautiful.
