The Bluff, a hotly contested artificial hilltop located in the middle of the provincial Palingbeek Domain, is worth discovering. Many mine craters, shelters that can be found in the 'Waterlock' (= lock section in the old channel bed), bunkers and military cemeteries from WWI can be discovered here. To look for traces of the past, appropriate footwear is recommended. A walking path that departs from the South Entry Point takes you around the mine craters and then dives into the old bed of the Ypres – Komen Canal.
