The Aschenhof was first mentioned in a document from July 5, 1494:… the brothers Wolfgang Valtin and Hans Ditzel from Viernau received a “fiefdom, called the Ascherberg, located between Albrechts and Benshausen zu Sula” from the Königsbreitungen monastery.
As on other manors, there was an obligation to keep a knight's horse on the farm, and a bridle path led into the Seßlestal.
It remained unconfirmed that until 1490 the "Totenweg" led past this from Suhl to Ebertshausen.
