The health resort Heimbach with its 4,000 inhabitants is the smallest city in North Rhine-Westphalia. Located in the Eiffel National Park amidst forests, the town below the Rurtalsperre is the starting point for tours through the national park. With the castle Hengebach, the half-timbered houses in its different districts and numerous activities around the national park Heimbach is a gladly visited tourist center in the national park Eifel.

Heimbach with the castle Hengebach is worth a visit. The castle tower can be climbed for free and offers a great view of the Rur valley!

Also from Heimbach, the trip to Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel is very worthwhile 👍

In Heimbach there is the castle Hengebach with a very beautiful underlying park directly on the Rur. The pilgrimage church opposite is also worth a visit.

Hengebach Castle is very well preserved. You can even climb the tower and have a great view!
You can also stop here, although I can't say anything about food and drink, but it looked pretty good. You can also sleep here.

Pretty town in the Eifel National Park. There are many opportunities for short walks or long hikes in the vicinity. The well-preserved Hengebach Castle is also worth seeing. After a hike, you can stop off in one of the nice restaurants or cafés. In the warm season it is of course also a good idea to visit the spa park or to relax on one of the numerous benches on the banks of the Rur.

Heimbach belongs to the Düren district and is the smallest town and the second smallest municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia in terms of population. The city center is inhabited by a little over 1000 people. Heimbach is a popular destination in the Eifel National Park.
