For centuries, grain markets were held on this square in the heart of the city, which is where the name "Kornplatz" comes from. Older names for it were also "Traidmarkt", "Korngries" or "Körnermarkt".

Plague/Trinity Column, Langenlois
The plague column, which dominates the middle of Kornplatz, was created by Andreas Krimmer in 1713. It has a three-sided structure with a pedestal and a base richly decorated with tendrils and volutes. On it you can see reliefs of the plague saints Rosalia and John Nepomuk as well as a praying monk in front of a cross; there are also statues of Saints Sebastian, Rochus and Charles Borromeo. In the middle rises a cloud column with a group of statues of the coronation of Mary by the Holy Trinity.
