Due to a fracture in the earth's crust, many large boulders are pushed upwards in the vicinity of Riel.
Riel is located on the western edge of a central rift, which means that the topsoil contains material and stones on the surface that are 800,000 years old.
That is why Riel is called during carnival: keiengat.
