If you are on the Bayern Tower you can see far into Thuringia and Franconia. Steigerwald, Thuringian Forest or the Rhön can be seen. The Equal Mountains rise up as striking mountains, but the smaller ones are hidden, the Veste Coburg, the Veste Heldburg, the Straufhain, the Bleßberg or the Dolmar near Meiningen. It is really worth climbing the many steps.

The reason for the construction of the "Bayernturm" was the intention of the communities of Zimmerau and Sternberg to bring visitors to the border region in northern Bavaria. The Bavarian state government supported the construction of the tower financially. The "Zimmerau-Sternberg Tower Community" was founded to realize the project. Under the direction of district master builder Fritz Köth, the 38-meter-high tower was built by the steel construction company Seibert. The construction costs amounted to 365,000 DM. The inauguration date was June 17, the annual day of German unity, in 1966. A holiday home area was built below the tower in 1972. Source: de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayernturm

Very good view over Haßberge, Gleichbergen ,,, etc. To the right of the tower is a nice trail directly down the forest towards St. Ursula Chapel, Brennhausen, Sallequelle, etc
