Leitenhausen is a deserted village in Thuringia. It is located in the Heldburger Land region in the extreme south of Thuringia, in the Hildburghausen district, northwest of Heldburg, just a few hundred meters from the border with Bavaria. Today, the site is a memorial site on the former inner-German border.

Leitenhausen was first mentioned in 1317 as Leydenhusen. The village was a knight's estate and belonged to the Saxon Amt Heldburg in the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen until 1918, and then to the state of Thuringia. The village's fate after the Second World War was determined by its immediate location on the inner-German border. It lay within the exclusion zone created by the GDR authorities in 1952. In 1972, the last family was deported and the village razed to the ground. In 1993, a memorial stone was erected at the old village site.
