The small town of Wilsede in the heart of the Lüneburg Heath is a sleepy nest almost all year round! However, when the sun shines in August and the heather starts to bloom, visitors from all over the world come to enjoy the beautiful heather landscape. Wilsede is practically the center of this spectacle. As a cyclist or hiker, you can get a lot of information about the heather, souvenirs and of course coffee and cake! You MUST visit this place!

The idyllic and car-free heath town of Wilsede is located in the middle of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve.
What is special about Wilsede is that the place can only be reached on foot, by bike or on a horse-drawn carriage.
With its old buildings steeped in history, the historical site resembles a living museum village. But it is actually still inhabited normally today.
In the summer season, the 40 soul town of Wilsede becomes a real tourist magnet. In addition to a visit to the museum or the exhibition in the sheepfold, you can admire the many thatched roof houses while relaxing biking through the town.
The cafes and restaurants invite you to linger in Wilsede.
This idyll can only be experienced in the heart of the oldest nature reserve in Germany.

    Attractions in Wilsede:
Visit the Heath Museum "Dat ole Huus" during your stay in Wilsede. There you will be impressively brought closer to the life of the farmers around 1850.
In the former sheepfold on the Emhoff there are many special exhibitions around the Lüneburg Heath cultural landscape and the Naturschutzpark e.V. association to marvel at during the season.
In the stairwell on the Emhoff, luminous images present the biodiversity of animals and plants in the nature reserve.
Typical plants of the region can be found in the herb, perennial and vegetable garden from spring to autumn.
On the Emhoff in Wilsede there is a small prayer room on the Way of St. James. Here you have the opportunity to contemplate and also receive a stamp for the pilgrim pass.
The Wilseder Milchhalle is just the thing for a break. This offers delicious food for both large and small appetites. Try the buckwheat specialties!
In the museum shop you can take a souvenir, e.g. honey or hiking maps, for your loved ones.

Whoever is with us in the nature reserve, and it does not matter if you are a biker or a hiker, should visit this place. From here you can easily reach the "Totengrund" or the "Wilseder Berg".

Coming from the Wilseder Berg you first meet the locality at the Heidemuseum! During a cycling tour, waiters in black livery are not exactly what you are looking for, so just take a look around the corner. We were e.g. at the milk hall - great beer garden behind the house, nice service and the pea soup was 1a ..... That's exactly what you're looking for on a bike ride

Wilsede and "his mountain" are a nice destination and always worth a tour - even if I think Undeloh is nicer. However, many find that, sometimes too many. The small town is really pretty, but as a mountain biker you should be prepared for a lot of sand and cobblestones. You should rather cycle up the mountain from behind and not follow the caravan from the front. The small ascent is a bit bumpy but much emptier. The only small possible round is then completely unspectacular, but the view is all the more spectacular.
