Around 1870 railroad workers carved a grotto into the sandstone on behalf of the millers' couple Winkler, Bruckmühle. A much-used iron road is said to have passed there on the steep, deeply driven path, which must have claimed several lives over the years.
In 1921 the grotto was enlarged.
