Already 15,000 years ago - in the last Ice Age - the trowel-shaped body of water arose near Stendenitz, north of Neuruppin. Huge masses of ice formed the landscape of Ruppin Switzerland as we find it today. The trowels are silting lakes that will eventually disappear. Dead animal and plant remains make the lake shallower and shallower. Anglers can still be found there - hunting for fish.
