Best Mountain Biking Routes to Kupferlöcher Former Ore Mining Site

Tips

  • Small cave with a sign! Small people fit in ... :-))

  • It is unusual that these small caves have been given the name "copper holes", because here, between the Tiefenbach and the Kühberg, high-quality red iron ore (iron ore) was mined, which was smelted in the nearby hammer mills in the valley (Oberhammer, Mittelhammer, Waffenhammer, Hochofen, etc.) and then processed immediately. The actual copper ore deposits were in the area around Kupferberg. But there were probably some insignificant deposits here too. The small cave also suggests that it was a test excavation.
