While the forests at the beginning of the path were once created specifically for specific purposes, towards the end the path surprisingly leads out of sparse pine forests and right into the middle of mighty old beeches.
This part of the forest has hardly been used for logging for many decades because it was part of the grand ducal hunting area.
The result is an exceptionally old beech forest, the core area of which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
Lots of varied stations along the way encourage observation and activity.
In addition, a leaflet that you can take with you at the entrance to the forest adventure path provides further background information on the various forest types.
The path connects the villages of Zinow and Serrahn and can be walked in both directions.
However, it is recommended to start the hike at the parking lot in Zinow and then to follow the path to Serrahn.
The path is 4km long and also touches the UNESCO World Heritage area.
In Serrahn there is the exhibition "In the realm of the beeches", in which you can learn more about living things that feel at home in these forests, for example.(Source: mueritz-nationalpark.de)
