Monte Vioz is a 3.645 meter mountain located on the border between Lombardy and Trentino in the wonderful and magnificent Ortler Alps. From the top 360° of the highest mountains of Ortles-Cevedale (almost 4.000 meter tops), Bernina (one of the 4 Italian over 4.000), Brenta, Presanella, Adamello groups, and many of the Austrian and Alto Adige groups.
The Forni glacier (Ghiacciaio dei Forni) lies on the west side of Monte Vioz, flowing into the Valle dei Forni. On the east side of the mountain lies the glacier Vedretta Rossa, and the smaller glacier Vedretta di Vioz is on the south side of the mountain.
The most popular climbing route is from the trailhead at Peio Fonti, a cable car to the refuge Doss dei Cembri, and a 1.350 meter climb from there or the shirter, but steeper way from Peio 3000 station (only 700 meter).
Below its summit is the Mantova del Vioz refuge, the highest of the Eastern Alps.

The summit is only about 100 m above the hut. The summit cross is a little further ahead of the highest point.
While the view to the south was already comparable from the hut, it now opens up over wide glacier areas to the north and to the Palon de la Mare.
