Please check local regulations for: Rhein-Ahr-Eifel
Location: Remagen, Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Somewhat hidden and only via a small footpath is a small viewing platform directly opposite the broken bridgehead.
Continuing the path - also over "hill and dale" - it goes directly to the Rheinhalle and the new Remagen cemetery ... and yes you can of course also take the boring road a few meters further ... ;-)

Stop for a moment and immerse yourself in the history of the Remagen bridgehead .. there must be time for that, even many decades after the event.

"Since 1980, the "Bridge of Remagen" peace museum has been housed in the towers of the bridge built in 1916-1918, which depicts the history of the former Ludendorff Bridge and the "Golden Mile" prisoner of war camp. It became world-famous on March 7, 1945, when American troops arrived here were able to unexpectedly cross the Rhine. The end of World War II was within reach. On March 17, 1945, the damaged bridge collapsed, burying 30 US soldiers."
