This village is located in a narrow passage formed by a geological lock at the entrance to Guillestrois. The Durance is boxed here between two mountain walls. A bridge was built there from the Middle Ages to ensure trade with Italy. It is probable that during the Roman period, it was a low which ensured the crossing. The village served as a starting point for rafts of tree trunks intended for shipbuilding which were "floated" to the Mediterranean.
