The tower of Saint-Clément has kept access to the territory since the 13th century. Improperly called Saracen Tower, this watchtower (also called square keep) built more likely by the Lombards, surprises visitors arriving at St Clément. The tower is the property of the Archbishop of Embrun since 1215 and marks his hold on the territory. It was a watchtower endowed with a defensive system, benefiting from an effective point of view on the Durance and all the plain.
