At this point you can clearly see how the Wehrmacht took advantage of the local landscape when building the main battle line. The trenches are at the foot of a rise. From here you have a good view of the water in front of it. During the Second World War, the lower parts of the landscape were more humid than today, so that the area was relatively easy to defend from the battle positions. The trenches along the slope are clearly visible to this day.
