If you come up Lantern Pike from Matley Moor, once you go through the gate at the bottom, and make your way up a short steep Rocky climb you can either follow the BW round, or make you way up to the top of Lantern Pike and go across, it brings you out further down the trail.
If you stick to the path it usually holds up well in most conditions, just watch for a few drainage gaps on your way down the descent. It’s quite a steep decent, with a few loose rocks to mindful of. Try to feather your brakes as they will be burning otherwise. As you hit the tarmac descent be careful at the bottom as it is a road. This then follows across to a fun little descent which drops you off near the cafe for a well deserved brew.
If your going the other way, it’s a bit of slog depending on conditions, the bottom section near the cafe is the trickiest bit, after that you should be ok.
As always watch for walkers coming up/down and be nice and say hi!

This is a nicely isolated route round the back of the Lantern with a great view ober Hayfield.
Although it was remote and off road for the start, I finished with a road section from New Mills to Marple, which I don't recommend but haven't found a better route for this bit yet.
