In October 1918, soldiers of the 29th Division, who had finally recaptured Ledegem, began the construction of Ledeghem New Cemetery, as it was initially known.

In 1951, 14 British soldiers who died in October 1914 and September/October 1918 and were buried in the cemetery were transferred here.
There are now 85 British soldiers buried there (including 17 who could no longer be identified). Special Memorials were erected for two of the dead because their graves were never found and are believed to lie beneath the unmarked headstones. One victim is also commemorated with a Special Memorial because his grave in Ledegem cemetery was destroyed by artillery fire.
