One of the local trademarks is Wietzendorfer honey. This goes hand in hand with the tradition of the Wietzendorf honey festival. At the festival, which was first held in 1974, up to 12,000 visitors make a pilgrimage through the town on the two days of the festival. It takes place every year on the last weekend in September.
